The city of Copenhagen, Denmark, presented Mayor Rudolph Giuliani with a bicycle to promote its corporate-sponsored bike-sharing program, launched in 1995. New York City launched its own bike-sharing initiative in May 2013 as part of efforts to reduce pollution and ease traffic.
