Astoria Park Pool was one of 11 built with federal New Deal funds by Parks Commissioner Robert Moses during the La Guardia administration. Reputed to be the largest outdoor pool in the world at the time, it opened to swimmers in 1936 and has been the site of Olympic trials. Municipal Archives collection, NYC Municipal Archives.
