After the Revolutionary War, many Loyalists left the state and forfeited their lands. The state resold these properties, most notably, to a number of widows. Forfeitures of properties in New York City after the Revolutionary War, 1784-1787, records, NYC Municipal Archives.

June 23rd 1784

Sold to Eleanor Blauw for one thousand and one Pounds ………. All that certain Messuage or Dwelling House and Lot or Toft of Ground situate and being in the South Ward of the City of New York now in the Occupation of the Said Eleanor Blauw Bounded in front by the Street formerly called Dock Street wharf in the rear by other part of the said Lot and which was formerly granted by the Mayor Alderman and Commonalty of the City of New York to Waldron Blauw on the West by Ground of the Devisees of William Milliner deceased and on the East side by Ground of the Devisees of Henry Holland deceased Containing in breadth in every part twenty eight feet six inches and in length on the west side Seventy three feet two inches and on the East side Seventy three feet seven inches Forfeited to the People of this State by the Conviction of Waldron Blauw.

Sold to Henry Wyckoff for One thousand two hundred and twenty five Pounds ………. All that certain House and Lot of Ground situate in the Dock Ward of the City of New York and on the Northerly side of Great Dock Street extending in length to Duke Street and is Bounded Southerly in front on Great Dock Street and on the Westerly side by a House and Lot sold by Isaac Stoutenburgh Esquire to the said Henry Wyckoff and a Lot and Store House of Lewis Pintard and Northerly in the rear by Duke Street and on the Easterly side by a house and Lot of the Widow Lawrence Forfeited to the People of this State by the Attainder of Frederick Philipse Esquire.
